2026 Beginning Climbing Arborist Training
This class will be held June 18–19 at the Elmwood Park Pavilion in Omaha, NE.
This training is open to both NAA Certified and Non-Certified participants who are ready to develop their climbing abilities further. Please note: climbing is a required component of this course.
Course Learning Objectives:
This intermediate-level class is designed for both NAA Certified and Non-Certified participants with foundational arborist knowledge who are ready to further develop their climbing skills through guided, hands-on instruction. Ideal for those with basic climbing experience, the course prepares participants for more technical tree work.
Through a combination of classroom learning and practical fieldwork, attendees will build confidence in climbing safety, gear usage, and applied tree care techniques. The training emphasizes improving climbing technique, promoting safe and efficient canopy movement, and strengthening jobsite communication—key skills for continued professional growth in arboriculture.
Course Format:
Two days 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a morning break and an hour on-site lunch.
Limited class instruction followed by hands-on demonstration and instruction.
Continuing Education Credits:
Participants may be eligible for up to 14 Continuing Education Units (CEUs), 7 CEUs per full day, upon completion of the course.
International Society of Arboriculture (I.S.A.) Certified Arborists and Certified Tree Workers will be eligible to receive 14 Continuing Education Units (CEUs), 7 CEUs per full day, upon the completion of the course.
Materials:
Recommended Materials: Hard hat, ANSI z87 safety glasses, boots, and gloves.
Optional but encouraged: Tree climbing harness, climbing rope, work positioning lanyard, throw line, and throw bag. NAA will have some equipment available for student use.
Note: All personal protective equipment (PPE) and climbing gear will be inspected prior to use and must meet current industry standards.
Cancellation Policy: A refund, less a $25 administrative fee, will be given for all written requests received by May 29, 2026.
Requests received after that date will be reviewed by the NAA Board of Directors. In the unlikely event the event is canceled due to uncontrollable circumstances, your payment will be considered a donation to the NAA.

Individuals will be notified within 1 week of their application.
